Artist
Henrik Bredenbals
Henrik shoots cities the way other people read poetry — slowly, returning to the same lines. The work lives between New York’s late-train stillness and Portugal’s salt-bleached afternoons. Quiet frames. Strong tonality. The patience of a photographer who waits for the right second instead of the right scene.
Two series at Berlin Collective: New York Chronicles (Manhattan from the periphery) and Saudade (Atlantic coast, slow noon).
New York Chronicles #7 looks straight up the corner of a Lower Manhattan tenement: stepped brick courses climbing into a slate, undecided sky, a tattered American flag bunched at the cornice, a black fire escape spilling down the right edge in a tight lattice of bars and grilles. The flag is the only color note — a worn red, a faded navy with the stars still legible — and it does most of the emotional work. Shot by Henrik on one of those grey New York afternoons that never quite turns into rain.
What sets this frame apart is the angle. Where other pieces in the series step back and let architecture pose, #7 leans into the corner until the whole building reads as one geometric spine. The eye climbs the zigzag of brickwork, hits the flag, then catches on the iron mesh — a tension between civic symbol and the working hardware that keeps the building alive. Nothing about it is staged.
A premium pigment print on Alu-Dibond, frameless with a floating mount effect. The matte finish holds the brick texture and the grain of the sky without flattening either. Sizes from 30×20 cm up to 210×140 cm. Curated in Berlin, printed in Europe. Ready to hang. Free EU shipping.
Why this price
A gallery charges 2–3× more for the same print. Here's where the money goes.
online-only studio
€499
For a 120×80 cm Exhibition print. You keep €700+ — that's the difference.

How it arrives
Your artwork with an integrated aluminum mounting frame pre-attached to the back, plus a short installation note.
Each piece ships flat in protective packaging designed to handle courier transit without damage.
Integrated floating wall-mount sits slightly off the wall, casting a subtle shadow. Exhibition sizes and up — use a solid interior wall or fittings rated for heavier loads.
1–2 weeks from order. Each piece is produced on demand.
Please note: Wall screws, hooks, and dowels are not included. Use fittings appropriate for your wall type (drywall, brick, concrete) and the size you’ve chosen.
Care
Dry microfiber cloth for dust. For stubborn marks, dampen with water or anti-static screen cleaner. Avoid paper towels, ammonia-based cleaners, and abrasives — they scratch the acrylic.
As with any photographic print, prolonged direct sunlight will eventually fade the colors. Hang out of long-duration direct sun where possible.
Hang on a dry interior wall. Bathrooms and other high-humidity rooms aren’t ideal for long-term display.

The Series
A torn flag, a brick spine, a sky thinking it over.
New York Chronicles is Henrik's slow walk through the city's quieter tells — the corners, cornices, fire escapes and weathered façades that hold more biography than any skyline shot ever could. Shot from low angles and odd vantage points, the series treats Manhattan and the outer boroughs less as an icon and more as a working organism: brick that has seen a century of weather, ironwork still earning its keep, flags and signs that have stopped performing for tourists. The palette stays close to the city's own temperament — slate skies, oxidised reds, the deep blacks of cast iron and shadow. There is grain in the frames, a deliberate roughness that sits closer to a contact sheet than a postcard. The pieces speak to each other in small ways: a repeated geometry of edges, a habit of looking up, a respect for the unglamorous hour. Hung together they read as one long afternoon in the city; hung alone, each holds its own weather. The series is for people who like New York best when it isn't trying to charm them.
