Artist
Henrik Bredenbals
Henrik shoots cities the way other people read poetry — slowly, returning to the same lines. The work lives between New York’s late-train stillness and Portugal’s salt-bleached afternoons. Quiet frames. Strong tonality. The patience of a photographer who waits for the right second instead of the right scene.
Two series at Berlin Collective: New York Chronicles (Manhattan from the periphery) and Saudade (Atlantic coast, slow noon).
New York Chronicles #4 by henrik — a man in a red beanie sits on a wooden bench against an oxblood brick wall, phone pressed to his ear, the Manhattan Bridge cutting across the upper frame in steel and pale winter sky. A second figure waits at the far corner, hands in his coat. Cobblestones, a No-Not-Enter sign, a turquoise door. The image holds the small, in-between minute of a city afternoon.
What sets this fourth frame apart from its companions in the series is the depth of the wall — the brick fills two thirds of the image and lets the human body sit small inside it. Where other Chronicles frames lean into cobblestones or distance, this one is a quiet study in scale: one warm dot of red against a long flat plane of weathered red. The bridge above is presence, not subject.
A premium pigment print on Alu-Dibond, frameless with a floating mount effect. The matte finish keeps the brick honest and gives the red beanie real punch without gloss. Sizes from 30×20 cm to 210×140 cm. Curated in Berlin, printed in Europe, ready to hang. Free EU shipping.
Why this price
A gallery charges 2–3× more for the same print. Here's where the money goes.
online-only studio
€499
For a 120×80 cm Exhibition print. You keep €700+ — that's the difference.
No rent on a prime-street corner.
No resellers. No commission chain.
How it arrives
Your artwork with an integrated aluminum mounting frame pre-attached to the back, plus a short installation note.
Each piece ships flat in protective packaging designed to handle courier transit without damage.
Integrated floating wall-mount sits slightly off the wall, casting a subtle shadow. Exhibition sizes and up — use a solid interior wall or fittings rated for heavier loads.
1–2 weeks from order. Each piece is produced on demand.
Please note: Wall screws, hooks, and dowels are not included. Use fittings appropriate for your wall type (drywall, brick, concrete) and the size you’ve chosen.
Care
Dry microfiber cloth for dust. For stubborn marks, dampen with water or anti-static screen cleaner. Avoid paper towels, ammonia-based cleaners, and abrasives — they scratch the acrylic.
As with any photographic print, prolonged direct sunlight will eventually fade the colors. Hang out of long-duration direct sun where possible.
Hang on a dry interior wall. Bathrooms and other high-humidity rooms aren’t ideal for long-term display.

The Series
A red beanie, a brick wall, the bridge humming somewhere overhead.
New York Chronicles is henrik's slow walk through the city's quieter registers — the corners that carry on while the postcard version of New York happens elsewhere. Shot in the cool months, the series favors brick walls, cobblestones, mid-block benches and the long overhead reach of bridges and elevated tracks. The light is winter light: low, indirect, grey at the edges, warm only where it lands on a face or a wrap of red wool. These are not skyline images. They are interstitial images — the half-second between two errands, the phone call you take outside because the room was too loud, the stranger walking toward you who you'll never see again. The palette stays close to the city's own: oxblood brick, wet asphalt, painted steel, and small punctuations of signal color. Across the series, henrik holds the camera at human distance and lets the architecture do the framing. Together the frames read as a single long afternoon in Brooklyn and lower Manhattan — observed, never staged, and quietly in love with the ordinary.
