Artist
Henrik Bredenbals
Henrik shoots cities the way other people read poetry — slowly, returning to the same lines. The work lives between New York’s late-train stillness and Portugal’s salt-bleached afternoons. Quiet frames. Strong tonality. The patience of a photographer who waits for the right second instead of the right scene.
Two series at Berlin Collective: New York Chronicles (Manhattan from the periphery) and Saudade (Atlantic coast, slow noon).
New York Chronicles #1 by henrik — Lower Manhattan seen through a chain-link fence, the wires drifting in soft focus across a long view down a Chinatown side street toward One World Trade and the Verizon tower. Tenement rooftops carry their tags and water tanks at the bottom of the frame, the avenue runs straight into the financial district, the sky is the kind of pale grey that flattens everything into one tone. The fence makes the photograph feel half-stolen, the way a real city is mostly observed from places you weren't supposed to stop.
This is the opening frame of the series — the wide establishing shot, before the work moves inward to rooftops and street corners. Where later pieces sit closer to the ground, this one keeps a deliberate distance, the foreground wires diffusing the skyline into something more memory than landmark. Nothing is heroic, nothing is sharpened for effect.
A premium pigment print on Alu-Dibond, frameless with a floating mount effect. The matte finish holds the muted palette honestly — warm brick, slate towers, a soft afternoon sky — without any plasticky sheen. Sizes from 30×20 cm to 210×140 cm. Curated in Berlin, printed in Europe. Ready to hang. Free EU shipping.
Why this price
A gallery charges 2–3× more for the same print. Here's where the money goes.
online-only studio
€499
For a 120×80 cm Exhibition print. You keep €700+ — that's the difference.
No rent on a prime-street corner.
No resellers. No commission chain.
How it arrives
Your artwork with an integrated aluminum mounting frame pre-attached to the back, plus a short installation note.
Each piece ships flat in protective packaging designed to handle courier transit without damage.
Integrated floating wall-mount sits slightly off the wall, casting a subtle shadow. Exhibition sizes and up — use a solid interior wall or fittings rated for heavier loads.
1–2 weeks from order. Each piece is produced on demand.
Please note: Wall screws, hooks, and dowels are not included. Use fittings appropriate for your wall type (drywall, brick, concrete) and the size you’ve chosen.
Care
Dry microfiber cloth for dust. For stubborn marks, dampen with water or anti-static screen cleaner. Avoid paper towels, ammonia-based cleaners, and abrasives — they scratch the acrylic.
As with any photographic print, prolonged direct sunlight will eventually fade the colors. Hang out of long-duration direct sun where possible.
Hang on a dry interior wall. Bathrooms and other high-humidity rooms aren’t ideal for long-term display.

The Series
Manhattan held at arm's length, framed by a fence and a quiet afternoon.
New York Chronicles is henrik's slow-walk through a city that rarely slows down. The series moves between rooftops, side streets and bridge walkways, looking for the in-between moments — a fence, a fire escape, a block where the light has gone soft and the traffic has thinned out. Each frame is a small reminder that the skyline is not a postcard but a working thing, full of brick, graffiti, water towers and people getting on with their afternoon. The palette runs muted: warm reds in the low-rise blocks, cool slate in the towers, a sky that always seems to be deciding whether to clear. henrik shoots from the height of a passer-by, never theatrical, never staged for charm. There is room in these images for ordinary weather and ordinary streets, and the city is allowed to look tired, beautiful, lived-in. Hung together, the Chronicles read like pages from a notebook kept over many trips — patient, observational, faintly nostalgic for a New York that exists mostly between the famous landmarks. Each piece stands on its own; together they form a quiet love letter to the boroughs in their off-hours.
