Artist
Henrik Bredenbals
Henrik shoots cities the way other people read poetry — slowly, returning to the same lines. The work lives between New York’s late-train stillness and Portugal’s salt-bleached afternoons. Quiet frames. Strong tonality. The patience of a photographer who waits for the right second instead of the right scene.
Two series at Berlin Collective: New York Chronicles (Manhattan from the periphery) and Saudade (Atlantic coast, slow noon).
Subway Serenade is a New York street photograph by Henrik Bredenbals — a saxophonist in a dark bomber and silk cap, dark glasses on, leaning into the horn on a subway platform at night. The wall tile catches a soft glare. Behind him the empty track and the steel rail run flat across the frame, and the city blurs at the top of the picture like the lights through a passing train window. He's working — playing for tips, playing for himself, playing because the train isn't here yet. The whole picture sits inside that small unhurried minute.
Where other frames in New York Chronicles look up at architecture or out across avenues, this one stays close and stays still. The body is squared to us, the saxophone angled toward the tunnel, and the geometry of the handrail holds him exactly where he stands. No reaction shot, no audience — just the player, the platform, and the ambient hum of the station carrying his sound.
A premium pigment print on Alu-Dibond, frameless with a floating mount effect. Deep blacks, clean platform whites, and the soft 35mm film grain hold their tonal depth on the matte aluminum surface. Sizes from 30×20 cm to 210×140 cm. Photography by Henrik Bredenbals, curated by Berlin Collective. Printed in Europe, ready to hang. Free EU shipping.
Why this price

online-only studio
€499
For a 120×80 cm Exhibition print. You keep €700+ — that's the difference.

No resellers. No commission chain.
How it arrives
Your artwork with an integrated aluminum mounting frame pre-attached to the back, plus a short installation note.
Each piece ships flat in protective packaging designed to handle courier transit without damage.
Integrated floating wall-mount sits slightly off the wall, casting a subtle shadow. Exhibition sizes and up — use a solid interior wall or fittings rated for heavier loads.
1–2 weeks from order. Each piece is produced on demand.
Please note: Wall screws, hooks, and dowels are not included. Use fittings appropriate for your wall type (drywall, brick, concrete) and the size you’ve chosen.
Care
Dry microfiber cloth for dust. For stubborn marks, dampen with water or anti-static screen cleaner. Avoid paper towels, ammonia-based cleaners, and abrasives — they scratch the acrylic.
As with any photographic print, prolonged direct sunlight will eventually fade the colors. Hang out of long-duration direct sun where possible.
Hang on a dry interior wall. Bathrooms and other high-humidity rooms aren’t ideal for long-term display.

The Series
A street horn carrying Manhattan's late shift, caught on black-and-white film.
New York Chronicles is the city read slowly — a long-form gaze at the rhythms under the noise. These New York photography prints catch the saxophonist on the subway platform, the skyline pressed through a chain-link fence, the bridge at the hour when the river turns to pewter. It is Manhattan as a mood, not a monument. Bredenbals photographs in the tradition of Joel Meyerowitz — the patient eye that waits for the frame to settle rather than chasing the picture. Grain stays. Shadows sit deep. The palette holds to charcoal and muted sepia, with the occasional warm window throwing its light like a held note. Nothing is heightened. The street does the heightening on its own. These live in rooms that already have a record collection and a reading chair. A loft with exposed pipe. A corner of the apartment where you pour the second glass and stop checking your phone. New York photography wall art for the hour when the radiator clicks on and the evening turns inward.
