Berlin Afterglow #6

Berlin Afterglow is a nocturne of the city after the shops close and before the night gets loud — that hour when the wet pavement does half the work and every traffic light becomes a smear of pigment. The series moves through tram windows, bus stops, late kiosks and the long glass facades of Mitte and Charlottenburg, always with one foot inside a reflection and one foot on the street. Inspired by the cinematic register of Wong Kar-wai and the colour grammar of late Saul Leiter, the images are rendered in a photographic style that lets motion blur and sodium light do the storytelling. Palettes lean into deep teal and oxblood red, with the occasional cold neon punctuation. Figures are rarely centred and rarely sharp — they are companions to the city, not its subjects. Each frame in the series holds a single small moment of stillness inside a much larger blur, the way a Tuesday night in Berlin actually feels when you stop to notice it. Curated as a body of work, the prints sit easily next to one another and read as a continuous evening rather than a sequence of postcards.
