Berlin Afterglow #1

Berlin Afterglow is a series about the city after dark, when the day's edges soften and the neon takes over. Each frame leans into the contradictions Berliners take for granted — a graffiti-tagged doorframe and the Fernsehturm in the same breath, an Edison bulb burning amber against a sky gone violet, strangers shoulder to shoulder under signage that's been buzzing since 1992. The palette runs hot and cold at once: magenta and electric pink up close, deep cobalt and bruised navy in the distance, with small pulses of warm filament light to keep the eye moving. We built the series in a photographic register that nods to the late-night editorial work of Wolfgang Tillmans and the lurid colour grammar of early Wong Kar-wai — moody, specific, slightly out of focus where it counts. These are not skyline postcards. They are the in-between moments: the glance before the conversation, the drink half-finished, the friend you almost recognise through the window. Hung together they make a small Berlin diary; hung alone, each piece holds its own room.
