Eyesplosion #6

Eyesplosion is our pop-art series — a set of close-cropped faces and isolated eyes rendered in the language of mid-sixties screenprint. Flat color fields collide: cadmium yellow against vermilion, pink against acid green, ink-black graphic shadow against paper-white skin. Paint drips run where they want. Nothing is corrected. The pieces sit somewhere between a Warhol Marilyn poster, a Paolozzi collage, and a punk gig flyer pulled off a Soho lamppost in 1978. Each frame isolates a single feature — usually an eye, sometimes a mouth — and pushes the contrast until the gaze becomes architecture. The work is loud on purpose. It's built for rooms that already have a point of view: a kitchen with a chrome espresso machine, a hallway with too many books, a studio wall above a record player. We made these in a photographic register — not as photography, but as a printed surface that remembers the heat of a screen-press. The palette is unapologetic. The crop is closer than polite. The series rewards rooms that aren't afraid of color, and tends to anchor everything else in the space around it.
