Eyesplosion #2

Eyesplosion is our pop-art register — portraits cranked into the heat of screenprint culture, where a single face turns into a poster, a logo, a flag for a feeling. The series leans on the visual grammar of the late sixties and early seventies: halftone grain, two-tone separation, cadmium oranges butting against deep teal, ink that looks pressed rather than printed. We crop tight, isolate the eyes and the mouth, and let the scale do most of the talking. Nothing in these frames is subtle by accident. Stylistic anchors run from Warhol's Marilyn portfolio through Paolozzi's collage logic to the editorial covers of Twen and Nova magazine — a moment when graphic design and portrait photography were the same conversation. Each piece in the series isolates a different gesture: a stare, a half-smile, a face caught mid-thought. Hung together, they read like a hot, saturated chorus. Hung alone, each one holds a wall on its own terms — best where the rest of the room is quieter.
