Eyesplosion #4

Eyesplosion is a series of close-cropped portraits pushed to the edge of the silkscreen — a single feature, usually an eye, blown up until the dot pattern of the print becomes part of the picture. The palette is loud on purpose: cadmium yellow against signal orange, ink-black lashes, the kind of high-contrast posterization that ran through late-sixties counterculture and never quite left. There's a memory of Warhol in the flatness, of psychedelic gig posters in the heat, of Jamie Reid's punk cut-and-paste in the way the ink bleeds and breaks at the edges. Each frame in the series isolates a different gaze — playful, defiant, dazed, watchful — and lets the color carry the temperature. Saturated, graphic, unapologetic. We treat them as wall-sized exclamation points: the piece on the wall that fixes the room rather than blending in. The series sits well next to muted interiors, mid-century furniture, raw concrete or polished plaster — anywhere a single hot accent can do the work of three smaller pieces. Editorial in spirit, pop in execution, and printed at a scale that lets the grain stay honest.
