Artist
Henrik Bredenbals
Henrik shoots cities the way other people read poetry — slowly, returning to the same lines. The work lives between New York’s late-train stillness and Portugal’s salt-bleached afternoons. Quiet frames. Strong tonality. The patience of a photographer who waits for the right second instead of the right scene.
Two series at Berlin Collective: New York Chronicles (Manhattan from the periphery) and Saudade (Atlantic coast, slow noon).
Saudade #2, an Atlantic dusk along Portugal's coast by Henrik. Pink streaks bleed across a pale grey sky while the ocean settles into long, even bands of swell. A scattered breakwater of dark rock cradles striped red beach huts; a Portuguese flag holds steady on the headland against the soft pink burn at the horizon. The hour when the day gives up trying to be loud, held in a quiet photographic register that lets colour and distance carry everything else. There is a small hush in the frame — the sea is moving, but nothing in the shot is in a hurry.
Where Saudade #1 sits closer to the rocks and the working surf, this frame steps back — sky over sea, a wider horizon, the human edge of the coastline held only in the lower right corner. The composition leans hard on negative space, on the long horizontal of the swell, on the slow drift of cloud. Mood over event. A piece for a wall that wants to breathe.
A premium pigment print on Alu-Dibond, frameless with a floating mount effect. The matte finish keeps the pink-and-grey sky tonal and clean, with rich depth in the rock and water. Sizes from 30×20 cm to 210×140 cm. Curated in Berlin, printed in Europe. Free EU shipping.
Why this price
A gallery charges 2–3× more for the same print. Here's where the money goes.
online-only studio
€499
For a 120×80 cm Exhibition print. You keep €700+ — that's the difference.
No rent on a prime-street corner.
No resellers. No commission chain.
How it arrives
Your artwork with an integrated aluminum mounting frame pre-attached to the back, plus a short installation note.
Each piece ships flat in protective packaging designed to handle courier transit without damage.
Integrated floating wall-mount sits slightly off the wall, casting a subtle shadow. Exhibition sizes and up — use a solid interior wall or fittings rated for heavier loads.
1–2 weeks from order. Each piece is produced on demand.
Please note: Wall screws, hooks, and dowels are not included. Use fittings appropriate for your wall type (drywall, brick, concrete) and the size you’ve chosen.
Care
Dry microfiber cloth for dust. For stubborn marks, dampen with water or anti-static screen cleaner. Avoid paper towels, ammonia-based cleaners, and abrasives — they scratch the acrylic.
As with any photographic print, prolonged direct sunlight will eventually fade the colors. Hang out of long-duration direct sun where possible.
Hang on a dry interior wall. Bathrooms and other high-humidity rooms aren’t ideal for long-term display.

The Series
A coast holding its breath between dusk and the next tide.
Saudade is the Portuguese word for the kind of longing that has no clear object — a soft ache for something that may never have happened. Henrik's series of the same name follows that feeling along the Atlantic edge of Portugal: low light over Porto's beaches, the working stone of a breakwater, the slow drift of cloud above an empty stretch of sand, a flag on a headland at the moment a day decides to end. Each frame leans on horizon, weather and distance more than on subject. Pinks and pale greys, sand and dark rock, the long horizontals of swell and surf — a coastal palette held in a deliberately quiet photographic register. Nothing is sharpened to drama; nothing is lit for spectacle. The point is the mood underneath. Hung together, the Saudade pieces read as a small atlas of one stretch of coast at the hour when it begins to soften. They sit comfortably in a calm room — a bedroom, a hallway, a long wall in a quiet office — and reward the kind of looking that happens slowly, over months. Less an image to admire than one to live alongside.
