Artist
Henrik Bredenbals
Henrik shoots cities the way other people read poetry — slowly, returning to the same lines. The work lives between New York’s late-train stillness and Portugal’s salt-bleached afternoons. Quiet frames. Strong tonality. The patience of a photographer who waits for the right second instead of the right scene.
Two series at Berlin Collective: New York Chronicles (Manhattan from the periphery) and Saudade (Atlantic coast, slow noon).
Praia Rack is a quiet inventory — three or four surfboards stacked on dowel rails inside a small Portuguese shaping bay, fins still slightly tacky, foam dust caught on the wall in soft chalky drifts. The light is late and warm, the kind that turns plywood into honeyed wood and resin into something almost edible. A length of green tape on one rail, a perforated drying board to the right, a black cable looping in from above. Nothing posed, nothing styled.
Where other Saudade frames look out — at sea, at empty café tables, at a bathing-cap horizon — this one looks in. It's the slowest, most domestic piece in the set, the room you pass through before you ever see water. The composition stacks like a Morandi shelf, only the bottles are boards. It pairs naturally with the swimmer and the tiled-floor frames; on its own it reads almost as a still life.
Premium pigment print on Alu-Dibond, frameless with a floating mount effect. The matte surface holds the chalky beige and faded terracotta without flattening them, and the sawdust grain stays honest. Sizes from 30×20 cm up to 210×140 cm. Photography by Henrik Bredenbals, curated by Berlin Collective. Printed in Europe, ready to hang. Free EU shipping.
Why this price
A gallery charges 2–3× more for the same print. Here's where the money goes.
online-only studio
€499
For a 120×80 cm Exhibition print. You keep €700+ — that's the difference.
No rent on a prime-street corner.
No resellers. No commission chain.
How it arrives
Your artwork with an integrated aluminum mounting frame pre-attached to the back, plus a short installation note.
Each piece ships flat in protective packaging designed to handle courier transit without damage.
Integrated floating wall-mount sits slightly off the wall, casting a subtle shadow. Exhibition sizes and up — use a solid interior wall or fittings rated for heavier loads.
1–2 weeks from order. Each piece is produced on demand.
Please note: Wall screws, hooks, and dowels are not included. Use fittings appropriate for your wall type (drywall, brick, concrete) and the size you’ve chosen.
Care
Dry microfiber cloth for dust. For stubborn marks, dampen with water or anti-static screen cleaner. Avoid paper towels, ammonia-based cleaners, and abrasives — they scratch the acrylic.
As with any photographic print, prolonged direct sunlight will eventually fade the colors. Hang out of long-duration direct sun where possible.
Hang on a dry interior wall. Bathrooms and other high-humidity rooms aren’t ideal for long-term display.

The Series
Sun-bleached boards waiting between swells, dust and resin softening the air.
Saudade is the Portuguese word for a longing that has no end — and this series carries it in every frame. Bredenbals works the coast and its backstreets as Portugal photography wall art that refuses the postcard, finding instead the dust on a surfboard, the pink fade of an Atlantic dusk, the laundry caught mid-breath between two Porto houses. Bredenbals photographs in the tradition of Joel Meyerowitz — available light, unhurried frames, a palette of salt-wash neutrals and faded terracotta. Compositions stay loose; people walk out of focus, sheets flap, distances go soft in the haze. Colour is pulled rather than boosted. Nothing is styled into prettiness, and that restraint is exactly what makes the pictures hold. These prints belong in the kind of flat that smells faintly of coffee and linen — a reading chair near a tall window, an old rug, a late sun falling across parquet. They suit people who travel slowly and remember the weather. An evening print, more than a morning one.
