Lola Rennt #5

Lola Rennt is a series about the pace of a city — Berlin in particular, but really any place that moves faster than the people inside it. Named after Tom Tykwer's 1998 film, the works borrow that sense of forward motion: the camera that won't stop, the figure who keeps cutting through. Each frame holds one person at the eye of a blur — sometimes running, sometimes simply walking with intent — while the world around them dissolves into smeared light, traffic, shopfronts, strangers' shoulders. Our studio built these images in a photographic register, leaning on slow-shutter aesthetics and a warm winter palette: brass-lit windows, wet pavement, fur and wool against grey stone. The mood draws from late-90s European street photography and the kinetic editorial work of magazines like The Face and i-D, but the framing stays personal. These are not crowds. They are single figures the city tries to pull along. What unites the series is the pause inside the rush — the one face that stays clear while everything else gives in to speed.
