Edge of Suspense #1

Edge of Suspense is a series about thresholds — coastal moments held at the precise second before motion. Cliffs that look about to fall, water about to break, fog about to lift. We composed each frame in a deep black-and-white register, leaning into the tonal weight of large-format landscape work, and pulled the contrast just hard enough to let stone read like sculpture and water read like silk. The mood sits closer to Sugimoto than to travel photography — atmospheric, slow, quiet at the edges, but with something coiled at the center. Across the series the eye finds the same vocabulary: monolithic rock, restless surface, light coming sideways from a hazy sky. Some frames pull wide to a whole headland, others close in on a single wall of stone where the surf does the talking. None are pretty in the postcard sense; all are calm in the held-breath sense. Curated in Berlin and produced as a coherent body of work, the series is built for rooms that already have weight — concrete, oak, linen, plaster — and reward distance. Stand close for the texture; step back for the mass.
