Dolce Far Niente

Mediterranean is a series about the coastline as a state of mind — the long, slow afternoons where the sun does most of the work and the rest of us simply give in. Curated by frida for Berlin Collective, the images move between the Côte d'Azur and the wider southern arc: striped loungers, closed umbrellas waiting out the heat, painted shutters, sea walls bleached by decades of August. The palette is warm sand, deep Mediterranean blue, and the bone-white of bleached canvas, held together by a soft analog grain that feels closer to a drawer of old prints than a magazine spread. Nothing is staged for postcard. The series leans on a quieter, lived-in romance — the way Saul Leiter saw color, the way Slim Aarons saw leisure, but kept honest. Each frame holds a small, ordinary pause: the moment before a swim, the hour after lunch, the late light catching a chair from behind. Hung together they read like a private summer; hung alone, each carries enough air to breathe in any room.
