Distant Village

Mediterranean is a series Frida shot along stretches of southern coast where the light does the work — pale blue horizons, soft surf, sand that holds the day's heat into evening. The frames sit between memory and document. Some catch a near-empty beach mid-morning, others a village glimpsed across a slow tide, others nothing more than the line where water meets sky. Nothing is dramatized. The palette stays honest: bleached blues, warm taupe sand, the milk-white of broken surf, the occasional softness of cloud. The series reads as one long afternoon of looking. Frida works in 35mm with a steady hand and minimal post — the grain stays, the colors stay, the slight shifts of horizon stay. Together the frames feel like a quiet travel diary, the kind you keep without writing anything down. They sit comfortably side by side as a pairing or a triptych, and they hold their own as a single piece — a way of bringing the slower, salt-edged register of the Mediterranean into a room without postcard cliché.
