1970 romanticized views is our studio's slow look back at a postcard decade — Provence, the Ligurian hills, a Mallorca that no longer entirely exists. Painterly in register, slightly faded at the edges, lit the way memory lights things rather than the way the sun actually did. The series moves between cypress lines, hand-tiled pools, terracotta roofs, gravel terraces with metal chairs left where the last guest stood up. Skies stay generous. Color sits warm and a little sun-bleached, the palette of a holiday photograph that has been on the kitchen wall for forty years. Each frame in the series is composed like a small stage set: one or two human props, a horizon, a strong vertical, and a foreground that invites you to sit. There is no nostalgia argument being made here, no ironic distance — just the steady pleasure of a midday that wasn't trying to be anything other than itself.
